Bodily Exercise Compared to Spiritual Exercise 11-16-25

Many exercises have hidden motives (concealed)  and the Word of God cautions His people when it comes to being aware of and careful not to fall into Satan’s tricks. It was in the Mid 1980’s that the Lord started bringing to my awareness about things which Christians get involved in that are not in line with His Word. One of them was certain kinds of exercises, and especially those that include meditation.

For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come (1 Timothy 4:8). Physical exercise is important because it plays a major part in having good health, however we should never put more emphasis physical exercise than we put on the Word of God. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, therefore the proper diet and exercise work hand in hand.  Or do you not

ree

know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? (1 Corinthians 6:19).

With that being said, many of the exercise programs also place emphasis on the diet, which is okay if what they are saying is not contrary to the Word of God.

Example: Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,  forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified [cleansed, purified] by the Word of God and prayer (1 Timothy 4:1-5).

I have been on a simple sugar (cut out most of the sugars and salt too), low glycemic diet -A low-glycemic index (low-GI) diet is an eating plan based on how foods affect blood sugar level, also called blood glucose level. I am not a diabetic;

my blood sugar level was checked Friday and it was good.

This has been my lifestyle for the second year and I feel great!

If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed.  But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance.  For to this end, we both labor and suffer reproach [criticism], because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.  For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come (1 Timothy 4:6-7).

Watch out for those who are adding meditation in with the exercise; you might be closing your eye and lifting your hands above your head to the wrong god; which is deceitful. The Word of God tells us how to meditate:  This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success (Joshua 1:8).

No one will have God’s success unless they are doing it His way. Additionally, getting involved in anything ungodly is like playing with fire, and you will get burned. There can be severe consequences for playing on Satan’s turf; he will put you on a tree and leave you hanging.

How physical exercise benefits me: I have been doing some form of exercise all of my life; walked to and from school, and many other places. The gym has been a place that I’ve gone to off and on; walked the neighborhood, and to work. Walking was my main way of exercising, until recently when my body needed more that just walking the park and through neighborhoods.

Something happened to my body and it was suggested that I go to physical therapy, also water aerobics. Thank the Lord that gyms are included in my insurance. I was also blessed to have a fitness trainer for four free sessions. This has benefited me (my body and mind) and I love feeling almost new again.

To those who know me, know that I put more emphasis on the Word of God; and I  certainly meditate on the Word of God. The proof is the messages that are posted daily.
