Do the Children of God Inherit Generational Curses? 10-6–24
Jesus took Care of ALL Curses
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” (Galatians 3:13). Please stop putting a curse on yourself when Christ has set you free- And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed (John 8:32-36).
The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself (Ezekiel 18:20b). Everyone has to carry his own weight; being guilty only for him or herself.
Some people think they can be in right standing with God because a parent or grandparent was righteous; not true. Rach person must give account to God for themselves (Romans 14:12).
What did God curse in the Garden of Egypt? The serpent and the ground? So, the Lord God said to the serpent: Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life (Genesis 3:14).
Did you know that Satan was the most beautiful of all the angels and he was standing upright! I certainly do not believe it would have been easy for him to deceive Eve if he were in the form of a snake.
And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). On that note, he’s doing the same thing today to many Christians; presenting all the worldly glamour for them to fall into temptation. If the devil did it to Jesus, He certainly does it to God’s people (Matthew 4:4-11).
Please read how Satan tempted Jesus.
Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face, you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return (Genesis 3:14-19).
God did say not Adam was cursed, yet he and Eve would suffer the consequence for disobeying the Lord God. Because of what Adam did, it caused us to live in a cursed environment (a fallen, sinful world).
Additionally, the last Adam changed what the first Adam did. And so, it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45).
If you choose to believe in the generational curses, you are not walking in freedom.
FYI- There is a difference in certain sicknesses inherited from one generation to another. Sickness is not a sin; being cursed is caused by sin.
Example:
Many years ago, when I was injured on my job, an elder in the church said it was because of some sin I committed. Although unforgiveness can cause various things to happen. My situation was to get me where I am today. In other words, it was a part of the plan for my spiritual growth, ministry and for God to be glorified.
