Dull of Hearing? 10-9-25

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:13). You can’t walk by faith if you don’t understand the principles.

Example: Some people quote faith words out of their mouths, but there are no results or manifestation of faith in their lives. Hearing is the first step, but believing is a major part and then faith has to be activated.

I have been posting messages on Facebook almost fifteen years and from that it is evident who is understanding, or who are being open and blessed. On the other hand, those who don’t respond don’t understand. I am writing as the Holy Spirit leads, but some are still on milk when they should have been further along in their walk.

The other reason I know this is because of what many people who profess to be Christians are posting. If scriptures are posted without the explanation of them, there is no meaning or understanding.  But sanctify [purify or consecrate] the Lord God in your hearts and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear (1 Peter 3:15).

Footnote from John McArthur ESV Study Bible-

Peter insists that the believer must understand what he believes, and why one is a Christian and then be able to articulate one’s belief humbly, thoughtfully, reasonably, and biblically the hope that is in you. Merriam- Webster definition of articulate:  expressing oneself readily, clearly, and effectively.

Anybody can quote the Word of God, but that does not mean they understand what the verse mean. When I say anybody can quote scriptures, unsaved people are included. Most of us went church when we were younger and we would say the “Lord’s [Model] prayer," and the “Twenty third Psalm" in our homes, schools, and churches, but we had no clue as to what they meant.

James wrote this:  But someone will say,

“You have faith, and I have works.”

Show me your faith without your work, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?  Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? [Abraham believed and activated his faith].  Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?

And the Scripture was fulfilled which says,

“Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Likewise, was Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also (James 2:18-26).

Faith is unwavering belief, which is action. comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God – Listen [open your ears] to what the Spirit is saying to the church (Revelation 2:11).

Without faith it is impossible to please God. He that comes to God must believe [that He is who He says He is], and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).

Question- Where is your faith?

I'm exercising my faith!
