For All Have Sinned and Fall Short of the glory of God? 3-5-25

Look into the Word of God as if you were dissecting a frog. From WikiHow- Dissecting a frog is a common and important experience in introductory biology or anatomy. Although you may feel intimidated at the thought of dissecting an animal, you can have a profound learning experience if you know how to do it correctly.

Dissecting the Word (examining the Word of God carefully)  - But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,  even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.

For there is no difference;  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,  whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,  to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus (Romans 3:21-24).

I usually put emphasis on the importance of knowing what the keys words are and how they make a difference as to what the verse means. After reading the first verse, I continued and I saw something many people miss. Pause: That’s why it is important not to single out a scripture; one must read what is before and what is after in order to get the meaning of what is said.

Let’s look at some words: the first verse -Have sinned is past tense. When Paul wrote the book of Romans known as the most exhaustive book in the Bible, he was saying that the whole world had fallen short; they were guilty. Why? Because of Adam’s sin. Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned (Romans 5:12).

Look at the next words- we have been justified freely by His grace – Justified means, as if we didn’t sin; we have redemption that is in Christ Jesus. We were redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus, and He demonstrated His righteousness for us to be made righteous.

I call this the exchange when Jesus took our sins and became sin for us. knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,  but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.(1 Peter 1:18-19)

Since we have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ which cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7b), where does pleading come from and for what is Jesus’ precious blood being pleaded? I don’t see any Biblical connection and maybe, just maybe people say it because it sounds good. Pleading the blood; they are spoken from pulpits and repeated by others because they may sound spiritual but have no spiritual value.

This is important – please don’t quote scriptures that you are able to explain. Who benefits?

Does God pick sinners up when they fall? He does not hear a sinner unless they are repenting. Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him. (John 9:31)

David knew God so intimately that he didn’t have a doubt God would help him up when he fell. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand (Psalm 37:23-24)

Didn’t God know you were going to fall before He created you? Does it make sense that since God knows everything – (our past present and future) to say that we are called justified, which means “Just as if we never sinned;” to be righteous. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21).

If you still believe you sin and fall short of God’s glory, you really don’t understand who you are and therefore your understanding of this Awesome God is foreign to you. I will tell you why. Most people only look at the scriptures from their own view which is leaning to their own understanding. That is not wrong if you choose to look beyond your carnal mind and look at the Word of God through spiritual eyes (through the eyes of faith), you will never reach the potential God has purposed for your life.

That’s why this verse is crucial: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6). How can God direct your path if you are not trusting Him?
