The Attributes of a True Friend
I had a situation that came up a few days ago, which prompted me to post this today.
Even in my writing, some may think I am harsh by bringing correction; however, a mature person will know that it is done out of love. And they are open to the truth. I have a strong desire for my brothers and sisters to walk in truth.
Many people sugarcoat the truth for one reason or another; it may be so they can stay in another person’s good grace. All I want is to stay in God’s grace by doing His will, being accepted by others is not important if I have to compromise. Watch out for those who are always patting you on the back. A real friend will tell you the truth.
Example - Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful (Proverbs 27:5-6).
A friend loves at all times (Proverbs 17:17a). For whom the LORD loveth he corrects; even as a father the son in whom he delights (Proverbs 3:12). When God corrects us, sometimes it doesn’t feel good, but it is necessary.
A mark of immaturity is those who are easily offended. Listen! We will not always agree with each other, but that should never interfere with or have a bearing on our relationship.
This is something to remember.
Not everybody is on the same level. Although many people think they are; they think they know more than they do. Pride! These are the types of people who end up hurting themselves and others.
Let’s Love each other; Christ loves us so that He gave His life for us to be God’s family.
As I was searching for a reel that would be fitting for the message, Marvin Gaye sang it plain and clear, God asks [commands] us to love each other. By this all will men know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another (John 13:35).
Grace and Peace
