Rest -Cease from Labor “Shabbat” to stop all activity-

Now we know that the way the scripture is written, all activity has not stopped. Everything God created was complete, but He never stopped working.

For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13). Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6). The day of Christ is when He takes us to heaven to be with Him (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

Example:

When we assembly in fellowship, praise and worship is being actively involved. When God made everything in six days and rested on the seventh day, does not mean that everything was stopped. "By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so, on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done" (Genesis 2:2-3).

"Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way" (Psalm 37:7). Keep the abiding peace while waiting; whatever God has for you is for you!

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:28-30).

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7). Trust God (Proverbs 3:5-7).

"You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You" (Isaiah 26:3). Don’t let the worldly distractions or your circumstances. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. take your eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

"There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has Himself also ceased from His works as God did from His" (Hebrews 4:9-11).

What works did Jesus cease from?

He came from heaven; left all His riches and became poor for us; He walked among people and ministered for thirty-three years; prior to His earthly ministry coming to an end; He was tried and found guilty though He was innocent and guiltless of sin; Jesus hung on the cross, suffered and died for our sins; He became sin for us; therefore we are no longer sinners; His precious blood cleansed us from all our sins.

Because Jesus took our guilt, we are no longer guilty. Since His blood washed us whiter than snow, we are no longer guilty of the dirty sin.

Resting in the Lord is only possible when we use His Word as our guide and walk in obedience.
