Hi family and friends!
I am writing to say how important it is to use the Word of God correctly. This is for whoever reads this regardless of what your status is. Remember all of us are still growing regardless of what aspect of ministry we’re in. But, I have a strong desire for the people of God to strive for excellency because we belong to our Excellent Father. If we are to be conformed more to the image of Christ, then we should be open to the truth, which liberates us.
For years I have heard these quotes used as scriptures. Since I plan to share the gifts of the Holy Spirit next week, I felt this would be a good time to challenge the readers about these quotes and tell me where they can be found in the Word of God, or even it they are related to the quotes. Before you challenge me, I will share what I believe if these quotes are correct.
These are some quotes I have heard for years:
1) Cover me with your blood- to cover something is temporary.
Example: some animals were a temporary covering in the Old Testament to take care of the sins of the nation of Israel, who were God’s people. I said temporary; therefore, the covering was not permanent. Jesus Christ died to cleanse (wash away) us from our sins, which was permanent. the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7).
2) Cover myself in prayer – We pray to God our Father for whatever the situation may be; we don’t have the power to cover ourselves. We also pray and believe God for His Divine protection- He has given His angels charge over us (Psalm 91).
3) I’ll make the enemy my footstool – That quote applies to Jesus Only. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool (Hebrews 10:12). We have been given power (authority). Jesus gave His disciples (Luke 1:18-19), but when the Holy Spirit came, He gave us power over the demons, but they are not our footstool.
4) The Lord gives and the Lord takes away “Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”(Job 1:21).
5) Job made that statement according to his understanding, but the Lord gave Satan permission to take everything from Job And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.”(Job 1:12). In other words, God gave Satan to take everything from Job but his life.
6) Please remember that Satan and his demons have to get permission from God to attack/afflict us, and for whatever reason God permits it, something good always results from it. What Satan means for evil, God turns it into something good (Romans 8:28); God is for us, therefore who can be against us (Romans 8:31); no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
7) What does the Bible say about gambling (taking chances; being quick to gain). This mean they squander God’s money, by taking chances to get more. He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house (Proverbs 15:27). They are not trusting God who is Jehovah Jireh who supplies all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
8) Create in me a clean heart- No born again believer should use this scripture because we have been cleansed, precious shed. David was under the Old covenant and nobody could be born again until Jesus was resurrected.
Under the old covenant the Holy Spirit came upon prophets, priests, and kings for specific to be accomplished. They died and went to paradise in the lower part of the earth. After Jesus resurrected, He took paradise [and the people] with Him to heaven.
You are welcome to challenge me, however, please provide biblical answers rightly divided, and I will accept them. When you LOVE someone, you want the best for them. That’s who I am.
