This message is in conjunction with what was posted yesterday - Once We Hear the Word of God we are Responsible for Obeying it.
All born again believers have some knowledge of God’s Word, it is entirely up to each person how much of the Word they desire to have. Since they have some knowledge, they are responsible to do God’s will, which is His Word.
There was a servant who did not do His master’s will, and this is what happened to him just as it will happen to any of God’s people who know His will and refuse to do it.
And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more (Luke 12:47-48).
The first part of the scripture is saying that the person knew and he purposefully (deliberately) didn’t obey, therefore he received the greater punishment. The second part is talking about how the one servant who did not know, and deserved to be punished, shall be beaten with few stripes.
To me, this means all who don’t do the Lord’s will will be punished. I also see that nobody gets away with anything. Some people say, “What you don’t know won’t hurt you” That is not true, because God does not desire for us to stay ignorant of His Word.
If you have said that, please stop! It is not justifiable.
