If or When a Person Dies Will They Live Again?
In the last two months, there have been several deaths of people that I had a close connection with. And just recently it happened in my immediate family. My concern is not about those who have passed on, although it saddens my heart. What I am concerned about is those who are still alive and their eternal state.
If or When a Person Dies Will They Live Again? When is the operative word used because everyone will not experience physical death, but the appointment is there. And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment (Hebrews 9:27) Some people will still be alive on the earth when Jesus comes to meet us in the air.
But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God.
And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus, we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). We shall always be with the Lord.
The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was no place for them.
And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.
The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death (Revelation 20:10-14).
If a man dies, shall he live again? (Job 14:14). The answer is yes! There are two places people go; either to live eternally with Jesus Christ, or they will spend eternity being tormented in the lake of fire. Eternity means to never end.
Can you imagine what it will be like to be tormented forever? Whatever the person had a lust for while they were on earth, they will be lusting for it forever; that’s what torment is. Just use your imagination and think about a person who had a strong lust for sexual desire, they will scream in agony for whatever addiction they had in life; this is the torment they will experience.
You may ask how this can be when the Word says eternal death, when death means a cessation of life. This death means a separation from God; therefore, the people will still have awareness. They will be tormented!
Life is short, think about it; where will you spend eternity?
