Yesterday was a decision making day as to where my friend Carmen and were going; to Philly or Berlin. We ended up going to the Berlin Auction, which was crowded inside and outside where many vendors sold almost any and everything. One vendor and his wife had quite a bit of crystal pieces.

I purchased a small crystal vase that I had been looking for. My friend purchased a beautiful lamp, and from there we walked on the inside of the place for a while, then back to outside to get freshly made apple cider cinnamon donuts.

I began to think about a crystal water pitcher at the vendor where the vase was purchased, after my friend had purchased a second dozen donuts. I said to Carmen “I really like that pitcher and if it is still there I’m going to get it; if it’s not, it wasn’t meant for me: when we went back the pitcher was still there. Two ladies were vendors beside the vendor where we were; one said how much she had admired the pitcher. I told the story of how it was still there, and it was for me, my name was on it -LOL!

Now to “Two Sisters Walking Together” Carmen and I are from two different nations; she is a New York Nuyorican (from New York) – a Puerto Rican born in Brooklyn, and I am African American. Although both of our roots are of African descent, we are considered two different nationalities, speaking different languages – she speaks Spanish and English fluently; I speak English and truly little Spanish. With what look looks like barriers is no problem with us. We have been friends for three and a half years.

My family knows her and her family knows me. We go many places together; shopping, trips to New York, Philly, and other local areas, to some of my appointments, to different events given by Camden County and Lindenwold Borough, to the Senior Center, and so many things we do together. About two years ago, one of the deceased tenants named us Laverne and Shirley and several people in the building still call us by those names.

Although we attend different churches, we are in the same Bible study class at the church where I attend. We also attend  an in home fellowship and someone leads the Bible class, twice a month which includes a scrumptious breakfast prepared by a superb cook.

The moral of this testimonial is, God ordained for Carmen and me to be friends, even with barriers we still are united together in sisterly love and fellowship. We pray together and for others; we walk the park and sometimes we venture off into different neighborhoods. Do we always agree on everything? Of course not! We know that iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17), and that is necessary because it causes us to check ourselves.

The scripture says: Can two walk together unless they are agreed? (Amos 3:3). Division causes disunity; since we are one in Christ there should be no division among the people of God. And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.

I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able;  for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?  For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal? (1 Corinthians 3:1-4).

When division is among us, that exposes how immature the person is.

Saints, let’s walk in harmony with one another- Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! (Psalm 133:1).

FYI- I thank the Lord for all my friends, near and far. Each of you play a major role in my life.
