Titles and Who They Belong TO!
Warning! Caution! Be Careful About Sharing God’s Glory.
In concluding the Role of the Holy Spirit, something had come up a while ago, and after having conversations with a few people, I believe this was orchestrated by the Lord to share about TITLES and to whom they belong.
It is important for the readers to understand the seriousness of attaching God’s titles on names of people, groups. No one has the right to attach a title to their names that are the same as God. Whether people know it or not, that is putting themselves on the same level as the Triune God.
This is what God says:
I am the Lord, which is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images (Isaiah 42:8).
For My own sake, for My own sake, I will do it; or how should My name be profaned? And I will not give My glory to another (Isaiah 48:11).
Don’t forget that the Almighty God is Sovereign (Ruler) over everything- everything belongs to Him (Psalm 24:1). One will say, ‘I am the Lord’s;’ another will call himself by the name of Jacob; another will write with his hand, ‘The Lord’s, ‘and name himself by the name of Israel.
There Is No Other God “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; besides Me there is no God (Isaiah 44:5-6).
Jesus warns the scribes and pharisees about titles- (Matthew, chapter 23). They who carry titles are exalting themselves like the pharisees whom Jesus called hypocrites.
People in ministry – There are three sets of gifts given for the body of Christ to encourage each other that God will be glorified. Ephesians 4:11 are the gifts given by Jesus (not everybody possess these gifts. 1 Corinthians 12: 12:8-10, 27-31 are the gifts given by the Holy Spirit as He wills to use anyone in the body of Christ whenever and wherever He chooses to do so.
The gifts in Romans 12:3-11: every believer functions or operates in one or more of these gifts. Every child of God has a ministry (gift) but they are not to be titled.
Example:
The word bishop is not a title, it is ministry. Bishop is interchangeable with elder, or the five fold ministry offices; it is not and elevation that is achieved because of going through ranks.
One must be careful that they do not consider themselves as going to a higher level of ministry. We do grow and become more effective through the growth process, but we don’t get elevated by man.
God promotes us because of our service. For exaltation comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one and exalts another. (Psalm 75:6-7), and our rewards are given to us in heaven. His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things.” Enter into the joy of your lord.’ (Matthew 25:21).
