Finding Faith and Trust in Uncertain Times
The Hartford sent me an email dated March 20, 2026, titled: “What to Take if You Evacuate in an Emergency” the list was long! This was Published July 27, 2024- Updated January 28, 2026.
There were seven responses to the newsletter but it is the one that stood out the most: Your list are great and very inclusive. Unfortunately, if you pack any and all of the necessary items suggested by you, you would virtually need a truck to carry it all, and where in the world do you store all of that with the anticipation that you may need it sometime in the future. Also, when it comes to some of those items you are dealing with expiration dates, etc., and would you have a running list and a timeline to replace them.
I thought this was quite interesting and notable to be posted because similar situations have come up in the past. Since it is difficult to know beforehand when an emergency will arise, this is my point.
I always ask,
“does it make sense?”
I was attending church for a “New Year’s Eve service, which usually took place from 10PM to midnight. Well, when the clock struck twelve, nothing changed.
Y2K: From Britannica- Y2K bug, a problem in the coding of computerized systems that was projected to create havoc in computers and computer networks around the world at the beginning of the year 2000 (in metric measurements, k stands for 1,000). After more than a year of international alarm, feverish preparations, and programming corrections, few major failures occurred in the transition from December 31, 1999, to January 1, 2000.
Christians were buying the book and millions of dollars were made from what never came to pass; it was similar to false prophecy. One of my friends from Pittsburg called and told me I should store up certain items. I told her that my trust was in the Lord, that He would provide for me.
This is pivotal, I am not saying don’t use wisdom, what I am saying is when you hear something predicted: Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:20).
Thessalonica- Many believe that some of the Thessalonians had stopped working because the end times were at hand.
This seems to be logical since some people had stopped working because they thought Jesus was coming soon. In searching out scriptures pertaining to the church at Thessalonica, and how Paul talks about the antichrist and encourages the Christians about the coming of the Lord and how He was going to take us out of this world before the tribulation. In the meantime, they were to continue with their normal lives until that time.
How many people have money to purchase all those items that were listed? And where would they be stored? What about the expiration dates, especially being that no one knows when some catastrophic might happen. Scripture –Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding (Proverbs 4:7). Wisdom is great but not knowing how to apply it comes from a lack of understanding.
I trust in God my Savior, He never failed and He will never fail. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). ALL means every need!
Take away- Whatever comes to our ears, let’s consider the source and if it lines up with the Word of God.
Breaking the Chains.
