The government shutdown has caused many people to panic wondering what is going to happen, not only with forty million people who receive snap benefits, but with all those employees who are working tirelessly without a paycheck.
Many people are losing hope and we pray constantly for our country. I don’t remember much turmoil as what we are experiencing during this present age; meaning this country is going through a state of great disturbance, confusion, and uncertainty.
Despite how bleak things look, our God has not changed, for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust (Matthew 5:45). Yet, He is obligated to take care of His own, especially to those who obey His Word, by giving tithes and offerings (Malachi 3:8-11).
Salvation is not conditional, but His blessings are conditional; based on our obedience. The blessings of obedience and the curse of disobedience is clearly written in Deuteronomy, chapter 28; principle still the same today.
Some people may have much material possessions without being obedient, but that is not God’s kind of success; the only good success is walking in obedience. Pay day is coming for those who are doing it their way and leaving God out by trusting their resources such as jobs and so on.
What happened to me losing almost everything two times could very well happen to others. We never know what could happen to cause our bottom could drop out. I was comfortable living in a six room house. Beautifully decorated with top of the line furniture; even had a storage house in the backyard, nice front porch, and a nice ride. As was written Friday, God had to cause things to happen to change my way of thinking; initially it really rocked my boat.
Friends, I learned to trust God and to be content with whatever state I have been or am in now. Paul wrote it like this:
But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned [this was a process] in whatever state I am, to be content:
I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need (Philippians 4:11-12). Paul went on to say this in the same chapter,
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
Let me ask you this; doesn’t a good earthly father take care of his children? Well, God is better that any earthly father. Our Father gives us our daily bread (provisions -Matthew 6:9-13). The government does not own a thing, although they may think they’re in control and call the shots. God owns everything, even the government (Psalm 24:1). He allows situations and circumstances to happen for a reason.
Pharaoh the king of Egypt thought he was god, as did king Nebuchadnezzar, but God showed them both who HE was. The Lord God Almighty allows everything to happen for a reason, and He also has a will let them know that He alone is Great and Mighty GOD!
Take away for many African Americans –we invented the survival kit, through God’s grace and mercy. This should be a humbling time for God’s people. The Word of God tells us to look (fix our eyes on; focus on Jesus) the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
Although we are going through some tough times, we’re not to let the things of the world shake us; as for me “I do not allow the obstacles of my mind overrule my faith.”
By the way, something came through while writing this message – Our God is an Ontime God, yes, He is!
