Why We Celebrate African American History 2-25-25

Betty A. Burnett

Updated: Feb 25

Today I was going to share about who the African American peoples in the Word of God, but something happened and I felt this would be a learning lesson for all of us. I have been targeted by the devil who is using people to come against me because of my posts on Facebook about our history. This year I was led to write about people who are not known, to let the readers know how important all people are to me, but it is my own people who were left out of the history book.

“Maybe we can have white history month one of these years.” Who has history been about from the beginning of this country? I would like to share that the devil is upset and he does not want us to know about our wonderful heritage.

This is what the word white means from BibleStudy.org- White, in the Bible and in today's society, is typically associated with purity, things that are good, innocence, honesty, and cleanliness. The word black means.

From the Bible Wisdom Hub- In the context of the Bible, the color black often symbolizes darkness, evil, sin, mourning, and judgement. It is associated with spiritual darkness, wickedness, and the absence of light.

When I saw what was posted, I was not offended, the person’s true feelings were exposed. So, why would I get angry and fall into the trap by retaliating. I am so happy to have grown spiritually. I feel sorry for those who feel superior to others and have hatred in their hearts. It could have been a test for me to see how I was going to react but praise the Lord I passed that test.

Tomorrow, I plan to post about our history from the Word of God. That part of history seems as though we are cursed, but I want to share how the blessing of God is upon us, and for those of us who are born again, there is no curse. However, consequences are still there from disobedience of our forefathers.

So, remember this, tomorrow’s post will be a message of encouragement, since we have been put down, trodden under foot, called, and labeled with different names that makes me think we don’t know who we really are (Negro, Colored, Black, African American). Why not unite and call ourselves one true name – since we have African roots, I prefer to and will continue to call us African Americans.

God bless you,

His handmaiden, Betty A. Burnett ~ burnettministries.org
