Celebratory Birthday Indeed!
Many people celebrate their birthday an entire month, and I have done the same thing. This time I am winding down from being overwhelmingly blessed by the love that was showed to me in various ways.
Whether more blessings come in or not, I am truly grateful with a heart of thanksgiving. This post is necessary to be shared because of what happened on my birthday. My Nuyorican (Puerto Rican born in New York) friend came by Sunday morning on her way to church to drop off the generous birthday gift. She asked what my plans were for the day. I said, “No plans” Then she told me to come by her son’s house at three o’clock.
I went to church and a niece texted me and wanted to bring me something; and it was decided that five o’clock would be a good time. Later on, I went to be with my friend, her family and some of their friends. I walked up the steps to the deck and my friend’s daughter in law greeted me with a big “Happy Birthday” Ms. Betty.
So, we went inside and they had a flourless chocolate cake that I love (Carmen’s daughter in law makes them) with a lit candle on it.
Everybody was around the table and they sung “Happy Birthday” to me. I made a speech afterward and told them how much they meant to me and they were like my blood family, and my conversation ended with telling how much I appreciated them honoring my birthday and how they included me in some of their family functions.
After leaving, and once I was at home three nieces came with a cake and two cards. On Monday, another niece sent me a BLESSING. I received another blessing in the mail yesterday. Thanks again to each and every one of you for the LOVE that was expressed in various ways.
